Optus Out and About

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

✦ The month of January saw Optus get behind many community initiatives across the Hastings region. Fun was had by those that attended the outdoor movie night in Wauchope and the Port Macquarie Eats Festival Optus Kids Zone.

Both events were brought to our communities by Optus completely free of charge.

Rocks Ferry Reserve, Wauchope, was the perfect location for the Optus Movie Night
"We believe in providing moments and opportunities that allow families to connect with one another and were pleased to have over 50 people attend the Wauchope movie night" said Chris Simon, Optus General Manager Northern NSW. "Presented in partnership with the Wauchope Chamber of Commerce, the weather wasn’t kind to begin with, however it cleared up to allow all attendees to enjoy the movie screening with their free ice cream."

Rocks Ferry Reserve, Wauchope, provided the perfect location for the inaugural movie night, with over 50 people in attendance. Families settled in and enjoyed the movie “Matilda” with the Hastings River as the backdrop.

Port Macquarie Eats Festival was a huge success

“When approached to support the event, we agreed straight away and busily commenced planning a space for families to enjoy that didn’t attract a cost, and the kids zone idea was born,“ Chris told us.

The kids zone proved hugely popular and included free balloon animals, inflatables and a slot car competition, where the two fastest lap times of the day received the kits to take home!

Lots of fun had and questions answered

Apart from providing free entertainment for countless families, Optus staff also spoke to many Optus and non-Optus customers at both events, with the general consensus being the desire for face-to-face service.

“This is another reason why we love getting out to events and helping both Optus and non-Optus customers with their tech questions. Furthermore, this is all underpinned by our local store in Port Macquarie, where residents and businesses are free to pop in and have a chat, no appointment needed," said Chris.
