✦ We look at why the TG's Way is a unique and effective philosophy for life, not only in creating a nurturing environment for children but also in fostering a supportive, family-like workplace for Educators where they can thrive.
Building Relationships Through Collective Thinking and Sharing Our Gifts
The three foundational stones of TG's Child Care blends in building strong relationships with collective thinking and sharing our gifts. This approach involves everyone—from Educators to children—actively participating in discussions to ensure the best outcomes for all.
TG's Educators thrive on teamwork. Team leaders and centre managers have discussions with Educators, families, the community and they are also especially adept at listening to the children. This is to get an understanding of what needs to be implemented, the benefits for everyone, so that when they make decisions, it is done in the best interest of everyone, and everyone has been given a voice.
Educational leaders and Managers from TG's campuses gathered in Coffs Harbour for an inspiring day of professional development with Inspire Consulting. They delved into what it means to be an educational leader in the early years education industry. It was an opportunity to come together to explore new ideas, share experiences and strengthen their commitment to lead with passion and purpose and continue nurturing a culture of excellence at TG's.
The collaborative approach based on TG's three foundational stones gave rise to what is affectionately known as the TG's Way. It is a philosophy that is not just confined to the classroom. It extends to every part of the TG's environment, to the families' homes and outward to the community. It is how TG's builds its trademark and well-loved culture of love, trust, respect, compassion and fun where children love to learn (and so do the Educators!).
The TG's Way: A Philosophy for Life
The values associated with the TGs Way are not just practised at work but are embedded into every aspect of life. Many Educators share how this philosophy extends beyond their workplace.
One of TG's Educators implements it at home, even though her husband asked, "Does it truly work?". The answer is, "If you actually learn it and live by it, it works everywhere you go, with any relationship, with anything you do."
These values of love, trust, respect, compassion and fun make up the drive that so many of TG's Educators share in their daily tasks. It becomes a natural way of being for them. If they follow the the TG's Way, they are guaranteed to have a great day.
Even when there are little hiccups along the way, as long as they run with the TG's Way and implement it effectively, they can overcome anything.
When they say Playing is Learning for Life, that is a unique experience that children and Educators benefit from at TG's. A useful question to ask is, "What else have I learned today?". This is what contributes to the zest for life and fun at TG's. Children and Educators embrace what is new every day and they know they can all learn from and grow with one another.
This philosophy of continuous learning and growing is central to the TG's Way. At TG's, everyone is always learning and looking out for opportunities to grow as gifts. TG's children pick up the TG's Way instinctively and they bring it back to their homes and share it with their families. Ultimately, the TG's Way extends from TG's playspaces to homes and communities, benefiting everyone. That is why each community is always delighted when they know that a new TG's campus is coming to town!
Just Keep Learning and Growing
At TG's, the sense of family extends beyond the children and their families to include the Educators and staff as well. Many Educators describe TG's as a workplace that feels like a family. Some Educators joke that it gives a whole new perspective to the idea of work-life balance because they consider TG's to be a part of their family too!
The supportive environment at TG's is also reflected in the opportunities for professional development and growth. Everyone that comes into TG's as an Educator is provided with so many opportunities to learn and grow. If an Educator wants to strive to do something, TG's is a place that will allow them to do that. This is an environment that TG's Educators do not take for granted. You can start as a trainee at TG's, and if being a Centre Manager one day is where you are aiming to go, TG's is there to support you every step of the way from doing your Cert Three to getting your Diploma and ECT.
Isabella Cordery won Outstanding Trainee Award
Isabella Cordery of TG's Uralla recently won the Outstanding Trainee at the Uralla Shire Business Chamber Awards and she is a clear example of how TG's helps their Educators to really grow to their full potential. Isabella, or Bella, as she is affectionately known, was once a little child at TG's and as the recipient of TG's Playing is Learning for Life philosophy, she is well aware its magic works and she joined the team when she was 16. Since then, she has been highly proactive in her motivation to become a full fledged TG's Educator. She approached her Centre Manager to ask about trainingships and TG's is now supporting her to pursue her Diploma to become an expert in early childhood education.
Community Involvement and Playing It Forward
TG's Child Care is also deeply involved in the community, participating in local events like art shows and exhibitions organised by community groups like the Rotary Club. They are also excited about events like Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations or wearing yellow on Daffodil Day to raise awareness for the Cancer Council's research, or supporting local talents like young Jack McLeod with sponsorship so he can play in the Global Youth Sevens in New Zealand.
The TG's Way is not just a philosophy for early childhood education—it's a way of living and working that brings out the best in everyone, every day.
Perhaps the TG's Way can be a philosophy for life that we can all take on for ourselves and implement in our lives. It's not only at TG's, but every day we are all building relationships with the people around us. When someone walks through the doors of TG's, TG's is either building the relationship or maintaining it. That is why TG's is so passionate about listening to each other, respecting each other's voices, and providing fun, love and trust to everyone.
Looking ahead, TG's continues to focus on building strong relationships, nurturing a love for learning, and maintaining a supportive, family-like environment for everyone involved.
TG's Uralla won runner up for Excellence in Business at the Uralla Shire Business Chamber Awards in August 2024 while TG's Armidale was voted Best Child Care in New England by The New England Times in July 2024. It is clear from their many awards over the years that TG's Child Care has been recognised consistently by the communities for the excellent work they do for the children and families.
TG's Child Care is more than just a trusted childcare provider; it's a place where both children and Educators thrive through a shared philosophy that values relationships, learning, and community. The TG's Way is a testament to how a clear set of values can positively impact every aspect of life and work, making TG's not just a great place for children to learn, but also a great place to work and grow.
How will you be implementing the TG's Way to live your life with passion and purpose? ❋
