“Good for Kids” and “Munch & Move” initiative recognises TG's Meals

Updated: Jun 16, 2022

When they experience growing their own food in TG's gardens, they cultivate a sense of appreciation and responsibility for what they eat. Practical knowledge and humble appreciation then become food for the soul.

This philosophy has been recognised by the “Good For Kids” and "Munch & Move" initiative.

About Munch & Move

Munch & Move supports NSW Early Childhood Education and Care services to adopt health promoting practices. It is a NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children birth to five years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time

(e.g. watching TV or DVDs, playing on computers and small hand-held games devices).

The initiative has a belief that establishing sound eating and activity habits from an early age gives children the best chance of leading a healthy life and maintaining a healthy weight.

Healthy Meals for Positive Development

Meal time is a fun time at TG’s Child Care and children are encouraged to be curious and open with their food preferences. Educators talk about the children's experiences in the garden and what they have learnt about the food they have eaten.

Daily achievements with their food preferences are celebrated and shared with their family at home.

TG’s Child Care also shares healthy, delicious recipes in their newsletters for families to try out at home with the children or suggest food challenges where children get to help wash, sort, chop vegetables at home.

Having fun with cooking and building awareness of good nutrition happens both at TG's and at home - all with an element of fun!

Both the educators and families are proud that TG’s Meals are recognised by “Munch and Move” and “Good for Kids”.

Meet Emma, the amazing, creative, easy going, super time- efficient, extraordinaire chef in the kitchen full time at TG’s Armidale. She continually comes up with not only yummy but nutritious meals the children just love.
