Singapore Airlines has been announced as the first international carrier to grace the opening of the new airport.
The Western Sydney Airport (WSA) cost $5.3 billion and it is Australia's first greenfield airport. It is being built to service a whopping 10 million passengers a year once it opens. It will service domestic, international and freight flights 24 hours a day. The airport facilities are designed for both low cost and full service carriers.

Interesting Fact: WSA has consulted with First Nation communities to ensure the design honours the traditional land on which Western Sydney International Airport stands.

“Western Sydney International Airport’s late-night departure capacity, for instance, could allow Singapore Airlines’ business travellers to finish a full day’s work in Sydney, take an overnight flight and arrive in Singapore before their first morning meeting the very next day.
“Late-night departures could also allow passengers to transit more swiftly from Singapore through their award-winning Changi Airport hub to connect to one of the 125 destinations served by the Singapore Airlines Group.”
